Bio
Rebecca L. Goulder is a mixed media artist currently living and working in the Pacific Northwest. Born on Whidbey Island, Washington, she moved to Michigan when she was young. Rebecca eventually enrolled at Central Michigan University where she studied 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional art focusing on photography and sculpture. Her “Rooms” series, was the culmination of her studies there. The series of animations uses dioramas to breath life into everyday objects to tell the stories of the room’s occupants.
Rebecca’s works allows her to explore various materials and techniques, lately experimenting with watercolors. Her experience as a caregiver and then a supervisor for home care has given her the opportunity to work with some of the amazing people on the front lines in our communities. The “Mask Maker” series started as a way to do something constructive when she was recovering from an illness in March of 2020. She began by painting her own portrait and then asked if she could paint her friends who she knew were making masks also. Sharing the portraits online, she found more and more people who were making masks, and she was inspired to keep painting.
